Joyce initially serialized Ulysses in The Little Review (1918-1920). Here are the installments from volumes IV (ep. I and II), V (ep. III thru VIII), VI (ep. IX thru XII), VII (ep. XIII thru XIV, including a review of the court case by publisher/editor Margaret Anderson in the Jan-Mar 2021 issue). The full novel contains 18 episodes.

That is, honestly, a bit like taking the original publication of the Anna Livia Plurabelle passage as representative of the final form of /Finnegans Wake/. The substance is that of the final forms, but the expression still has a long way to go.
(This is one reason why there are such fights about the appropriate text of Ulysses, from the Rosenbach manuscript through the early editions to the arguments which continue around the Gabler edition. Joyce never stopped revising.)
