Poet's death

As his fingers, mouth and brain freeze, all the words are melting away. The rhymes are long gone, the similes have vanished, the imagery is merely a gray disappearing ghost. The gag is wet and soggy. The cobweb of deceptions and lies is heavier by the day. Alas, the end line is nearer and looking brighter with every new day.

End of life decisions

As I was driving with Eddie this morning to one of our usual walking loops, the radio was tuned to CBC and someone’s bladdering about Canadian music, the Juno’s and the musicians life, I changed the station to NPR which had a Hidden Brain segment about end of life decisions. When we reached our destination, while we walked, I read the transcript from where I left off. When we got back to the car, I continued listening to the segment (just a little ahead of how far I was reading the transcript). When we arrived home, I shut off the engine and continued to listen. Just after the segment ended and a few seconds into the credits, the car automatically turned off the radio as well. Perfect timing to an end of life story that metaphorically matched the ending of Stephanie Rinka’s life.
