Stuff, junk

ionelvFor as long as I remember, I've been a rat-pack. I think this has a little to do with inheriting the trait from my mom and a lot with my personality (a thirst to learn a lot of superficial stuff on a lot of topics which causes me to save stuff, that I don't have time for, for later). Interestingly, my dad is the opposite (he discards most stuff rather easily) which probably has something to do with his life experience.
My rat-packingness has caused numerous proddings from Marina to get rid of junk I've been accumulating through the years. So, quite a while back, I did decide that she's right and that I should get rid of most of my stuff. Turning that decision into action is another story...
Most of my prized junk is in the category of computer stuff (mostly old PCs and console games bought from second-hand stores) and books (too many books). I started getting rid of old computers (and games) last time we moved and again more recently (pending an imminent move). We haven't made much of a dent in our book collection, but a day of reckoning is approaching fast.
Anyway, I was reminded of this while reading a review of an interesting book: Getting Things Done by David Allen.
