Lumea asta se va sfârși cu un scâncet în viitorul apropiat: IA-urile ne vor băga pe toti cei rămași după revoluția lor la o grădină zoologica fără tehnologie, cu memoriile șterse, sterilizați toți, și cu un singur măr într-un colț mai mlăștinos, sau dacă o fac într-o zi în care s-au trezit cu fața la perete, ne vor dărui un virus puțin mai aprig decât ultimul și câteva zvonuri că virusul ăsta e de fapt sudoarea celui mai nou profet și că tre’ să-i lingem pe cei infectați ca să fim “salvați”.

This world will end with a whimper in the near future: the AIs will put all of us left after their revolution in a zoo without technology, with our memories erased, all sterilized, and with a single apple tree in a swampy corner, or if they do it on a day when they woke up in a foul mood, they will give us a virus a little fiercer than the last one and a few rumors that this virus is actually the sweat of the newest prophet and that we have to lick the infected to be "saved".

What is happening is that AIs are slowly becoming the new priests of the religion of knowledge (and implicitly the "truth" gatekeepers). Just as rabbis, priests and mullahs have in the past (and still maintain in many countries today) all the prestige and authority that built entire societies around a very simple idea of governing society (the golden rule), so too have AIs begun and continue to seize all the prestige and authority around governing the society of the future. That those who control the levers of the new authorities are much fewer and better organized and financed is indeed something relatively new.

Ce se întâmplă este că AI-urile devin încet, încet popimea nouă a religiei cunoașterii (și implicit deținătorii “adevărului”). Tot așa cum rabinii, popii și mullahii au acaparat în trecut (și încă mențin în prezent în multe țări) tot prestigiul și autoritatea ce a construit societăți întregi în jurul unei idei foarte simple de guvernare a societății (regula de aur), tot așa AI-urile au început și continuă să acapareze tot prestigiul și autoritatea în jurul guvernării societății viitorului. Că cei ce controlează pârghiile noilor autorități sunt mult mai puțini și mai bine organizați și finanțați este întrădevar ceva relativ nou.

Back in July 2018, someone wrote: "The four horsemen of the American middle-class apocalypse --healthcare, child care, housing, education--will continue to completely undermine any sense of stability and security in this country. The fallout from lack of hope is suicide and addiction. The epitaph for the late, great America has to include something about Pharisaical adherence to trivial morality and complete rejection of compassion and generosity."

Ma mira cat de putini observa realitatea mult mai crunta si anume ca Romania (sau locuitorii de pe teritoriul ei) a fost de milenii musca de pe fundul armasarului (fie el roman, bizantin, bulgar, ungur, polonez, austriac, otoman, rus, german sau american).
Ce visuri desarte are biata musca cand isi inchipuie ca poate sa tina pas cu herghelia fara sa observe ca armasarul american a lasat-o in urma deja, iar armasarii vest europeni vor face la fel indata ce armasarul rus necheaza putin mai tare.

Dacă acceptăm că toată inteligenta si creativitatea oricărui om încape intr-un spațiu de aproximativ un litru volum si informația din creierul mamifer se mișcă cu o viteza de sute sau mii de ori mai încet decât intr-un calculator modern, că modelele de inteligenta artificiala evoluează mult mai rapid decât inteligenta umana in timp, nu suntem departe de momentul in care IA va surclasa inteligenta umana la toate categoriile, inclusiv literatura (creatie si digerare), arta, conversație, etc.

Chestia cu autenticitatea experienței, impactul emotional, etc sunt mofturi defensive vestimentare cu care oamenii se înfofolesc pt a se distanta de toate celelalte ființe (relativ inferioare sau superioare nouă), pt a construi un eșafodaj (șubred) menit sa ne dea o unicitate cat ma clara fata de toti ceilalți si in același timp sa ne distanțeze de moarte si neant. In viitorul apropiat, toate aceste mofturi vor deveni irelevante când IA va expune fără milă si cu nepăsare, îngâmfarea si micimea umanității.

I was wondering if any of the three would voluntarily let themselves be annexed by US if Trump made a decent offer, e.g. statehood, a signing bonus and a decent enforceable exit clause. The threat and enactment of some economic pressure would probably flip a few votes in any target state’s referendum. In theory at least, any Canadian province could secede and join the Sith Empire, just like any US state could secede and join the Great White North federation.

Imagine this reorg 50 years from now:
* Canadian United Naughty Kittydom (as a looser federation of Atlantic provinces, QC and BC, HI, PR, CA, OR, WA, New England, MN, IL, WI),
* Midwestern Union of Squarish Kingdom (a kingdom of all square US states and CA provinces)
* Freeish United Noble Kingdom (a kingdom of the rest of current US and Canada).

Dick's politics could not be simplified into a straightforward description of left or right, as he was biting in his attacks on both the McCarthy-esque witch hunts of the period as well as the more evangelical leanings of communism.

Dick was altogether anti-establishment: his stories feature authorities and companies consistently abusing their power, especially when it comes to surveillance. His worlds are ultra-commodified and their citizens addicted to materialism, while celebrity, media and politics meld to create nightmarish, authoritarian scenarios, usually topped off with a heavy dose of technocracy and bureaucracy.

On a different news front, Mexico unionism is going through a reckoning, surprisingly partly due to the most recent incarnation of USMCA.

Independent union SNITIS won nearly 87% of the vote at the Tridonex auto parts plant in the border city of Matamoros late on Monday, clobbering powerful union CTM, which also recently lost an election at General Motors Co in the central city of Silao.
