Today, just after 5pm, I saw three black cormorants along the GO line from Toronto to Oakville. One was perched on a rock in the middle of a creek (near Long Branch) and the other two were probably a pair and soaking some sun in the shallows near Port Credit. I have not seen a cormorant in quite a few years (last time it was an early afternoon at least 2-3 years ago in Nashua at the pond near the Sheraton Tara).
Just this past weekend, we saw a great blue heron on Oneida Lake at Sylvan Beach (I took a picture, but all I got was a silhouette). He started fishing on a sandbar just as it started to rain. A half dozen ducks showed up after he landed and slowly moved in on him. It was eerie...
