3. Apparently, we now have evidence of previous Universes. See the actual paper on arxiv (by An, Meissner, Nurowski, Penrose). From the abstract: "[...] these sources being the Hawking points of the theory, resulting from the Hawking radiation from supermassive black holes in a cosmic aeon prior to our own" (with my emphasis).
