2024 Olympics Opening
Jul. 27th, 2024 10:34 amHighlights: Gojira, Lady Gaga and dancers suspended from Notre Dame scaffolding, 10 statues of women from French history, LGBTQ+ Last Supper, Snoop Dogg as torch bearer, masked torch bearer, Phillipe Katerine's blue Nu, glittering metal horse gliding across the water, Aya Nakamura, operatique Marseillaise (by Axelle Saint-Cirel), countertenor and breakdancer Jakub Józef Orliński, Beyonce performance, Zizou and Nadal torch passing and dazzling Eiffel Tower light show, Rafael Nadal/Serena Williams/Nadia Comaneci/Carl Lewis escorting the torch on a boat to French athletes that carried it from Tuileries Garden past the Louvre to oldest living French Olympic champion Charles Coste (100) who passed the flame to Teddy Riner and Marie-José Pérec who ignited the official flame on a Jules Vernesque balloon and Celine Dion closed the ceremony with Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l'amour”.
