Immortality

Wired has an an interesting article/interview about the human quest for immortality. This reminded me of the famous Romanian myth about mortality, Q, most anthropomorphic Gods humanity has invented, apotheosis in general and Eminescu's Luceafărul (which some think is just a variation of ATU 425/Animal Bride myth which I must admit is as true as any human, horse, dog or cat is a mammal in its over-reductive elan).

Many people yearn for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

It's usually people that approach their end (or have come close to it or lost someone dear) that get all worked up about immortality (especially if they have too much money or free time). That most of us waste our time consistently on frivolous things, that’s just a coping mechanism, a psychological condition, existential nihilism or a mere mental capacity limitation.
